Add an Image to a Page Using the Classic Editor
Before uploading an image, please read over the Web Governance Polices regarding images and photographs.
- Create a New Page or open the page you want to add an image to. Position your cursor in the text location where you want the media to appear.
- Click Add Media. The Insert Media box will appear.
- From the Insert media box, you can do one of two things: upload files to insert, or choose one from the media library. (For help uploading a file, see Upload an Image.)
- From the media library, click on the image you wish to add. A blue banner and check mark will appear on the image, and the attachment details will appear on the right. On the right hand side of the page in the attachment details box, check the Alt Text. If it is blank then you must add it. (Alt Text is a short description of the image and must be included for every picture. Abbreviations and acronyms are not acceptable.) Once you are ready to add the image to the page, click Insert into page.
- Once the image is on the page, you can adjust the image settings by clicking on it once and selecting the icon. The icon will delete the image from the page.
- After clicking on the pencil icon, you can edit the image and image details. All text in the Caption box will appear under the image in the text. (The above screen capture shows the caption.) Alt text must be present, it must describe the image, and not contain abbreviations or acronyms. Under Display settings, you can specify the alignment of the image and the size. When you are done updating the image details, click Update.
- After updating the display settings, below the image is smaller, aligned to the right side of the editor, and still has the caption.
- Remember to save your changes!
Remove the Grey Border from the Image
- Edit the image (using the pencil icon), and open Advanced Options.
- Add “img-no-border” to the Image CSS Class option.
Add an Image Gallery
To create a gallery, use the Add Media Button and then choose the Create Gallery tab.
Then, upload your files (you may need to switch to the Upload Files tab). You can drag and drop or use the Select Files button and choose multiple files from your computer. Make sure the files you want included in the gallery have checks next to them:
Then click the Create a new gallery button on the bottom of the window. Here you can optionally add captions. You can also drag and drop the pictures to order them. They will be ordered last uploaded to first uploaded. There is a Reverse Order button you can use if the first ones uploaded are the ones that should be at the top.
Set up the settings here too, to control how how your gallery displays. If you're not sure what to choose, start with 4 columns with medium size.
Choose the Insert gallery button. All of the pictures will be included in the editor.
To change your gallery settings after inserting it, click on the images and choose the pencil icon.
